John Jarvie

pictureMr John Jarvie is founder and MD of APEES MarLan. John has been constructing seawalls for 30 years and more recently has used his skill in the construction of other marine structures such as jetties, pontoons and navigational piles. John realised the need for a new view to provide solutions to the growing environmental damage been caused to the waterways and founded APEES MarLan to tackle the new problem.

 

 

 

 

 

Gerard Mimmo

Gerard has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Sustainability and has been a Chartered Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia in 2004. He is NPER (National Professional Engineers Register) accredited He spent ten working as an engineer on building and infrastructure construction sites before moving into consulting where he has been leading and managing design teams on infrastructure projects for over ten years. He has developed as a Project Manager with 15+ years of international experience and knowledge of sustainability gained from a variety of construction management and engineering consultancy projects. A good working knowledge and understanding of the aspects of financial viability and risks applicable to companies, clients and stakeholders, including sustainability, environmental impacts and innovative practical solutions. 
He has delivered numerous projects from initiation to final handover using commercial, organisational, technical and interpersonal skills gained in his experience. 

 

 

Michael Griffiths

Michael has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Biomedical Engineering, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. He has post-graduate training in management of research and development, senior management, and the environment.  He has over thirty years of experience in research and development, and a broad international network with attendance at more than thirty-six overseas international conferences, where he has presented many papers.   

He has been a member of many International taskforces and Standards Committees, as well as a member of many Australian Standards committees, including Chairman.
His achievements include:-

                • setting up the first network of vehicle occupant safety restraint fitting stations in the world. This NSW initiative is referenced in USA rulemaking which adopted a similar model.
                • following the 1989 Australian severe bus crashes his team worked with industry to develop a new kind of bus seat and seat belt system which offers protection to occupants in 100 km/h frontal impacts .
                • initiating and managing (Approx. 1985 - 1995 ) Australia’s major full scale vehicle crashtest facility “NSW RTA’s  Crashlab”
                • establishing Australia’s consumer car crash test program (ANCAP), the second such program in the world, years ahead of follower programs in Europe and Japan etc.
                • more recently, in partnership with APEES MARLAN’s John Jarvie, he developed the Safe Systems Pole, the first ever power pole which safely ‘catches’ and stops a car, whilst at the same time minimising the likelihood of damage to the power grid.
